NLB have been awarded funding for unemployed, young Knowsley residents

NLB is proud to announce that we have been awarded a funding contract for unemployed, young Knowsley residents. The funding will allow NLB to engage with 108 unemployed Knowsley residents aged 16-35, with a goal to place 33 people into employment in 2024.

Funding for this project is from Livv Housing (as the main contractor), DWP and Knowsley Council. Using the power of sport with male and female led sport offers, NLB will engage with hard-to-reach groups including;

  • NEETs
  • Youth offenders
  • National Probation
  • Knowsley looked after children
  • Young, single parents
  • Other young groups struggling to get into the jobs market due to lack of skill, lack of qualifications and direction.

NLB will apply a three part pathway of sport, education and employment to prepare young people for the world of work.

NLB CEO Barbara Travis said;

“We’re delighted to be awarded this contract which allows us to focus delivery within Knowsley and to make impactful change with young people from this area, in us supporting the hardest to reach groups. NLB is offering varied accredited training packages as part of this contract, including green skills training (retrofit), general construction, customer service and much more. We look forward to working with our specialist sports coaches and increasing confidence and wellbeing, in addition to in-work support. I’m confident we will meet our goal of 33 young people into employment following our employment pathway.”

Part of the process is NLB partnering young people with employers with a social value conscious. We find employers looking to take on and develop apprentices and full-time staff within construction and customer service roles, creating meaningful employment opportunities for young people on the programme.
